South Bank Piazza

South Bank Piazza

Hi everyone!

I want to tell you about how a dance battle I attended one year ago changed my life. I was really excited to go to this dance battle at Southbank.

I went to watch, learn from all the dancers, and see what a real battle was like. When I entered the place, it was almost packed. I was so lucky to find a spot very close to the black and white dance floor.

The event was hosted by an MC who explained the rules before every battle. I was even more excited to finally see the dancers facing each other. I remember Moud won the final.

But what really impressed me was the judges' showcase, especially Clarence. His style was the one I was trying to learn and dance. I felt connected with his moves. After the showcase and the final results were revealed, the floor was open to everyone. Guess what? I jumped in and did what I love most.

I joined the cypher. After a few dances, it was time to go home. Before I left, I took a photo with all the judges. That’s when I met Amelina and Clarence. My parents asked them about hip-hop classes, but they were all far from home. However, he was promoting a kids' hip-hop competition that he was organising.

This was my first solo competition ever and the beginning of my dancing journey. Southbank changed my life!
