Red or Blue?

Red or Blue?

I was super excited thinking I would battle in the recent Red Bull audition in Brisbane. Just participating would have been an achievement, and I know I would have had so much fun competing against Brisbane’s best dancers, the same ones that are now teaching me Hip Hop foundations. I am still new, and it would have been an amazing learning experience. Every time I watch a Red Bull battle at home, I dream that one day I will be there. I have to say that some of the dancers I have seen on video inspire me to dance.

I love battles, and I need to learn all the tricks, tips, and techniques necessary to win. I have only won once, and I will always remember my first one, the Get Down Kids Battles Vol.1. I went to dance with the younger kids, tried some moves, had fun, and after a couple of battles, I was asked to dance against the older ones. It was super fun; there were great dancers with different styles. My style is freestyle street dance. I danced each battle as if it was the last one, and after three rounds, I was in the final.

The best part of the battles was not winning but learning, having fun, and meeting other dancers, the judges, and studio owners. Thanks to this battle, my first one, I met Kim from Studio One Performance Hub, Janine from Janine Studio, and all their dancers that were competing. I remember Willow, Madi, Miller, Piper, Francesco, Kensi, Briana, and others. Unfortunately, I could not participate in the last Red Bull battle in Brisbane because it is an 18+ event, but I had the opportunity to jump in the cypher during the breaks and dance, watch, and learn from all the competitors and judges. I had so much fun.

This weekend is the Red Bull Dance Your Style Weekender and National Final Australia, in Sydney, all the best to all Queensland dancers: Wanida (Winner), Hanon, Wisdom and Yolanda.

More battles will come, and I love them. I will keep learning, dancing, and competing. Nine years pass fast!
