Yo, what's up, everyone! Benji here—your 11-year-old hip-hop street dancer, and I’ve got something super exciting to share with you all today. You won’t believe it, but just two years ago, I was in the crowd, watching the dance show at the Brisbane Festival, thinking, "Wow, I wanna be up there one day!"
It all started at Westfield Chermside, at a Pop Up dance show. I was just a spectator, totally in awe of these amazing dancers. Vanessa, Mudsan, and Louise took the stage and straight-up blew my mind with their skills. It was awesome catching up with Vanessa and seeing how much she had inspired me. Mudsan’s breaking moves were fire, I knew I wanted to bring that kind of power and flow to my own dancing. And I also met Louise for the first time, was just pure energy and big moves. I was hooked. That day, I learned new moves just by watching them, and honestly, it felt like the start of something big.
Fast forward to today, September 20, 2025, and I can't even describe how wild this feels—I was back at the same event, at the same place, but this time? I was performing. Yup, you read that right! I was on stage as an artist, dancing with two of the most amazing dancers I could ever ask for: Nadiah Fuzion and Wisdom. We were representing Mad Dance House, where I train every week.
Nadiah is a movement artist, educator, and choreographer, while Wisdom’s a Krump teacher and street dancer. These two are legends, and getting to perform with them was honestly unreal. It was my very first gig, and even though I was nervous this morning before the show, I was super excited to show what I’ve been working on.
The best part? The vibes. Dancing with Nadiah and Wisdom was like magic. We just clicked, and the energy was insane! I had so much fun, and I learned so much from them in just one performance. The experience was beyond what I imagined, and I couldn’t be more grateful to Meg for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this.
So, to all the dancers out there, keep grinding. Keep pushing. You never know when your time to shine is coming. I'm just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Peace and love, y’all!
