BrisAsia Dance Battle is one of the biggest dance events in Brisbane — and it has a serious legacy. The winner takes the crown and represents Australia at Radikal Forze Jam in 2026. That’s huge.
Last year was my very first time stepping into the dance floor at BrisAsia Dance Battle… and wow… it was crazy! I battled against some big names from Australia and even Japan. I entered two categories: hip hop and open. I didn’t make it to the second round, but you know what? I learned so much. The music was dope, the vibe was next level, and I had way too much fun hitting the floor with some of the best dancers around.
But this year… we level up
I’m competing in three categories:
- hip hop
- open
- popping
Super excited (and maybe a tiny bit nervous). My goal is to make it past the second round in at least one division, wish me luck! I’ve been training hard, working on my freestyle, my musicality, and my confidence. Let’s see what happens — win or learn, I’m ready!
The when and where
Qualifiers are this Saturday at Ventspace from 10am to 7pm.
Finals go down Sunday at Queen Street Mall from 4pm.
If you’re in Brisbane, do not miss it. It’s going to be wild!
The BrisAsia dance workshops
I’m also jumping into five workshops at Mad Dance House because growth never stops!
Friday Double Session:
- Keanu (Popping) – 5:30pm
- Amanda (Hip Hop foundations & floor work) – 7:00pm
Sunday Triple Session:
- HIKKI from Japan (Hip Hop) – 10am
- Happy Feet (Hip Hop musicality & freestyle) – 11:30am
- Mr Liberty (Hip Hop choreography) – 1pm
This is such a massive opportunity to connect, learn, and level up with dancers from all over. I’m ready to absorb everything like a sponge!

And big respect to the organiser, The 2nd Degree Crew, who continue to build and grow the scene year after year.
It’s all part of the BrisAsia Festival, which runs across Brisbane and celebrates Asian culture with workshops, performances, exhibitions, and amazing food. Brisbane seriously comes alive during this festival.
I’m proud to be part of it again this year.
Time to train hard. Time to battle. Time to have FUN.
See you on the floor.
